1. What is Threading?
Threading is an organic method of hair removal which originated in the Indian subcontinent, spread to the Middle and Far East, and is now gaining popularity in many Western countries. Threading is a gentler and sanitary alternative to plucking and waxing. It is 100% natural way to remove hair since no chemicals or electronics are used in the process. Unlike waxing, threading does not remove a layer of skin, which can leave the skin on your face susceptible to sun damage. The threading specialist takes a piece of cotton thread, twirls it around the fingers and is able to remove the targeted hair directly from the root, the result is hair that grows back at a much slower rate than other means of hair removal such as razors, creams, etc. Eyebrows can be shaped to absolute perfection, and face can be perfectly de-fuzzed, leaving you happy with beautiful precise shape and smooth finish you want!
2. How often should I get threading done?
Normally clients wait anywhere between 2-4 weeks for threading sessions. However, all depends on your personal hair growth and what you feel comfortable with! Threading removes the tiniest and finest of hairs so even if you need to come in for a quick clean-up before a party, or just to keep yourself looking ultra fabulous, you can come in as often as you’d like!
3. How long does threading process take?
A simple eyebrow threading can take just 5-10 minutes. The upper lip takesabout 5 minutes; a full face thread takes about 15-20 minutes.
4. Can I tweeze in between threading sessions?
No, we do not recommend tweezing between threading sessions. Threading slows down and reduces hair growth. hair also grows much thinner thus making it easier to remove and less painful when threaded. Tweezing just one time in between will reverse all that is achieved from threading and can further irritate follicles which can cause hair to become ingrown, coarser, and darker.
5. Will my hair grow back thicker or darker after threading?
No, your hair will never grow in thicker or darker after threading. Since threading removes the hair from the root, your hair will become finer over time.
6. Can threading be performed on the whole face?
Yes, threading can be performed and it is the preferred method for hair removal on the face. It is a 100% natural, non-abrasive form of hair removal, so you’ll never have to worry about burning, pigmentation, or pulling on your skin!
7. Does threading have any side effects?
Since threading is 100% natural, there are little to no side effects. Those with ultra sensitive skin may experience redness. Those who are trying threading for the first time may experience minimal irritation. In this case, we recommend using a cold compress on the affected area, followed by a dab of hydrocortisone. It is always recommended to take advise from your doctor.
8. How long before a special event (i.e. birthday or wedding) should I get threaded ?
We recommend coming in at least 2-3 days before your special event to get threaded.
9. What does threading feel like? Does it hurt?
It is relatively less pain than waxing or tweezing. The hair that grows in after the threading is usually softer and the skin around is smoother making your next visit a delite.
10. How threading is better than waxing or tweezing?
Threading normally lasts twice as long as waxing, and you can avoid all chemicals. Threading is also fundamentally tweezing or pluking. In tweezing, the hair is pulled from the top leaving the possibility of breaking the hair mid-way resulting in ingrown hair. On the other hand, Threading allows for a far more cleaner and long-term approach since the hair is pulled straight from the root.
